Tu mere saath na chal by Ustad Ahmed Hussain & Mohd. Hussain

"Tu mere saath na chal" is a ghazal from the album Zindagi the life. The lyrics has been penned down by the hindi-urdu poet and lyricist Hasrat  Jaipuri. The ghazal has been sung by the duo Ustad Ahmed Hussain & Mohd. Hussain. The ghazal is very akin to their ghazal Chal mere saath hi chal in it's lyrics and singing style. Alike the said ghazal, it would also be a good song to listen.

Lyrics:

Tu Mere Saath Na Chal E Meri Rooh-E-Gazal,
Log Badnaam na kar de_n Tu Iraadon Ko Badal.

Maine Maana Ki Bahut Pyar Kiya Hai Tune
Saath Hi Jine Ka Ikraar Kiya Hai Tune
Maan Le Baat Meri, Dekh Tu Is Raah Na Chal

Tu Mere Saath Na Chal E Meri Rooh-E-Gazal,
Log Badnaam na kar de_n Tu Iraadon Ko Badal.

Saath Dekhene To Phir Log Kahenge Kya Kya
Sochle Sochle Ilzaam Dharenge Kya Kya
E Meri Parda Nashi Dekh Na Parde Se Nikal,

Tu Mere Saath Na Chal E Meri Rooh-E-Gazal,
Log Badnaam na kar de_n Tu Iraadon Ko Badal.

Apni Ulfat Pe Kabhi Aanch Na Aa Jaye Kahin
Teri Ruswayi Ho Ye Baat Ganwara Hi Nahi
Dekh Nadan Na Ban, Hosh Me Aa, Yun Na Machal

Tu Mere Saath Na Chal E Meri Rooh-E-Gazal,
Log Badnaam na kar de_n Tu Iraadon Ko Badal.

  1. I love this soulful rendition by Ustads Ahmad and Mohammad Hussain. I recently stumbled upon a similar ghazal written by teh renowned lyricist Hasrat Jaipuri sahib (who has penned the above ghazal as well). The second ghazal in question is "Tu mere saath na chal; ae meri rooh-e-ghazal... Log badnaam na kar dein, tu iraadon ko badal". Eversince then I have been wondering why Jaipuri sahib wrote the two versions; why the Hussain brothers sang these ghazals (that too in a similar tune); and so on... does anyone know the story behind what may have prompted them to create first a song that prodded, encouraged and convinced the lover to walk along and change the course of history by challenging the social norms and rules; and then through another song prohibited the beloved from following one and urged her to go back to her life lest people dishonour her. It would add a great amount of context and historicity if someone could please shed some light on what may have transpired. Thank you! Enjoy the soulful music... it binds humanity like nothing else does!
