Lyrics with English translation :

Jiv dangala gungala rangala asa

I am engrossed and engulfed

Piramachi aas tu
You are my longing for love

Jiv lagala laabhala
Fallen in your love and received your love

Dhyass ho tuza
You are my desire

Gahiwarala shwas tu
You are my breath

Pailtira neshil
Will you ferry me across

Saath mala deshil
Will you become my companion beloved

Kalij majha tu
You are my soul

Sukh bharatila aala
Happiness, satisfaction is overflowing

Nabh dharatila aala
Sky came to earth, sky met the earth

Punawacha chand tu
You are the full moon

Jiv dangala gungala rangala asa
I am engrossed and engulfed

Piramachi aas tu
You are my longing for love
Jiv lagala laabhala
Fallen in your love and received your love

Dhyass ho tuza
You are my desire

Gahiwarala shwas tu
You are my breath
Chand sugandha deil
Moon will spread fragrance

Raat usasa deil
Night will sigh in relief

Sari dharati tujhi
Entire earth is yours

Rujavyachi mati tu
You are a fertile soil

Khula aabhal dhagaal tyala rudhi cha vital
The sky is clouded with ancient, age old traditions

Majhya raagh sajana
Oh my dear, beloved

Hee kakanachi tod maal tuu
You break this chain of bangles

Khula kalija he majhe Tula dila mi aandan
I gave you my crazy heart to you as a gift as a offering

Tujhya payav makhin majhya janmacha gonthan
I will devote my life to beautify your life forever just like a tattoo on your feet my life will be yours forever

Jiv dangala gungala rangala asa
I am engrossed and engulfed

Piramachi aas tu
You are my longing for love

Jiv lagala laabhala
Fallen in your love and received your love

Dhyass ho tuza
You are my desire

Gahiwarala shwas tu
You are my breath

Pailtira neshil
Will you ferry me across

Saath mala deshil
Will you become my companion beloved

Kalij majha tu
You are my soul

Sukh bharatila aala
Happiness, satisfaction is overflowing

Nabh dharatila aala
Sky came to earth, sky met the earth

Punawacha chand tu
You are the full moon

Jiv dangala gungala rangala asa
I am engrossed and engulfed

Piramachi aas tu
You are my longing for love

Jiv lagala laabhala
Fallen in your love and received your love

Dhyass ho tuza
You are my desire

Gahiwarala shwas tu

Shwas tu
You are my breath

Rishton Ke Saare Manzar by Arijit Singh

"Rishton Ke Saare Manzar" is a ghazal that featured in the album "Kuch Dil Ne Kaha". One of the most notable and talented singer Arijit Singh has given his voice to the song and has made it quite pleasant to the ears. The lyrics of the song has been penned by Harsh Brahmbhatt, who is a Gujarati language poet and writer and a retired bureaucrat. He served as additional secretary of Gujarat government and then as additional secretary of Chief Minister of Gujarat. Composer of the album is Anup Jalota.

We have earlier seen Arijit singing ghazals like the one in Haider (Gulon mein rang bhare) with same ease as he sings the Bollywood numbers. He seems to make no efforts with singing and yet comes out with an excellent number. Here also he has kept the things simple and that works wonders for him. As for the lyrics, it is a meaningful song which tries to fill the void in the field of ghazals left by the legends like Jagjit Singh and Ghulam Ali.

Lyrics:

Rishton ke saare manjar chupchap dekhta hun
Haathon mein sabke khanjar chupchap dekhata hun
Jismein pala hai mere bachpan ka lamha lamha
Ujada hua sa wo ghar chupchap dekhta hun
Dharata hai kitane tohmat mujhpe wajud mera
Jab bhi main dil ke andar chupchap dekhta hun
Wo rahagujr kabhi jo manzil ki ibtida thi
Usko main ab palatkar chupchap dekhata hun

Charkha by Javed Bashir

‘Charkha’ is a sufi song which has been sung by a lot of singers over the years and we’ve discussed about the song in the version sung by the sufi maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Here we are talking about the version which has been rendered by the Pakistani Sufi singer Javed Bashir. Javed Bashir came grab the attention of Indian audience with the 2012 bollywood song ‘Piya Tu Kahe Rootha Re’ from the movie Kahani and ‘Tera Naam Japdi Firan’ from Cocktail. He has also sung beautiful numbers like ‘O Rangrez’ from the movie Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, which shows that he is a master of classical music also. He is educated in Hindustani Classical music which is apparent in his singing. The song ‘Charkha’ which we are discussing here was performed by Javed Bashir in Coke Studio season-7 (Year 2014). This version is one of my favorites. It just compels you to tap your feet with the beats of the instruments in perfect sync of his magical voice.

Kesariya balam : A Rajasthani folk song by various singers

"Kesariya Balam", the Rajasthani folk song doesn't need any introduction. The song is sung in Maand singing style. If you just think of a song that may represent Rajasthani folk music, "Kesariya Balam" comes to the mind unpremeditatedly. When you listen to the song within a flash of second you move to the beautiful imagery of deserts of Rajasthan and its folk singers with colorful turbans on their head and Khartals in hand. This song is widely sung by various music artists across Rajasthan and many legends like Mehdi Hassan and Vishwa Mohan Bhatta has presented this song also. The song has been featured in some bollywood films also. Here are some popular plus folk versions of this song:

From the movie Dor sung by Karsan Sagathia,  A beautiful rendition of this song. Perfect folk voice and perfect instruments arrangement.

Swaroop khan, a original folk singer presents the song in his exclusive folk textured voice on the platform of an Indian talent hunt music show Indian Idol.

Presented by by the king of ghazals, Mehdi Hassan, a different experience to listen this song in his voice which makes everything enchanting to listen.

From the movie Lekin, in the voice of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, though the lyrics have been changed a bit by Gulzar. Another masterpiece of this song.

A live performance of the song by the music maestro Vishwa Mohan Bhatta.

And here comes the most authentic folk version of this song sung by the original folk singers of Rajasthan with all their raw folk voice and conventional folk instruments. I bet you would just love it.

Beparwah rang ka jaaya by Arijit Singh (Movie:Shahid)

"Beparwah rang ka jaaya" as the lyrics suggest makes you lost in a world where you become Beparwah (carefree). The song is composed by Karan Kulkarni  and appeared in the national award winning movie Shahid. The lyrics drops from the pen of Shaliendra Singh Sodhi known as  Shellee, famous for his lyrics in Dev D. Arijit Singh, the most promising and popular singer of the day has sung the song beautifully. Though it is the first composition of Karan Kulkarni, but with this song he makes his mark. The song has a beautiful opening and the use of instruments such as sarangi, ghunghrus, guitar is awesome. I simply love to hear it again and again. A perfect combination of lyrics, music and voice.

Lyrics:

Beparwah rang ka jaaya

Chitt laage na
Main uktaaya

Haal bayaan
Ho na haal bayaan
Hona faqat hai fanaa
Ranj ke sadke ho gayi jaan
Dhadkan jaise dhuaan...

Pyaar hai dheh sa gaya
Hai kadar kahaan
Mann hai yaadon ka ek majmaa

Beparwah rang ka jaaya
Chitt laage na
Main uktaaya
